#22: My Elbow Hurts (and other news)

My elbow hurts.

I finally had some time yesterday to take down my Christmas decorations. The lights that I had threaded into the garland gave me no problem. The wrapping paper was mostly packed up. And all I had to do with the wreath was shove it back into the box. The only thing that took time was the three trips to the storage space to get it all put away. I had to do some rearranging in there to get it all to fit. As I was placing the last box onto the delicately balanced pile, I retracted my arm a bit too fast and hit my funny bone HARD on a protruding bolt in the wall.

So now my elbow feels like I have a little pick-axe wielding elbow-gnome constantly banging away on my funny-bone. Ow.

Since our Christmas trip, Sir and I have been going to the gym 2-4 times a week. I'm less thrilled about the 2 times a week than I am about the 4 times a week, obviously, but it's been consistent at least. And I've also been making much healthier food choices. Granted it's been less than four weeks since Christmas, but I'm fairly confidant I can keep this routine up. Especially if Sir and I can motivate each other.

Let's see... what else... oh yeah. I got a new job!!!! That's right! As of 5 PM January 21st, no more travel for me! No more calling the airlines or dealing with 12 billion changes to difficult arrangements. No more Bossman or JA or Mr. President! Of course this also means no more Sir at the office. I may have to work quickly and patent a Pocket-Sized Sir (TM) to take with me.

My new job is at a telecommunications supplier company (sounds exciting, no?). The company provides fiber-optic cables and connectors to wireless phone companies and cable companies. I'll be working in the customer communications department, coordinating some of the proposals that go out, writing and editing them and designing their layout (these are hundred-page proposals).

The best part of the new job is the BIG raise and the FULL benefits starting Day 1! I've never had benefits!

It's going to be a bit of a commute from my apartment and Sir and I are going to have to make much more of an effort to see one another, but it was an opportunity that I just couldn't pass up. It doesn't sound like the most scintillating job ever, but it'll give me some new skills to list on my resume and will get me to that 3 years experience mark, which all the big name companies want. And benefits!

Maybe they'll cover acute elbow-gnome pain.

Ow.
